CEO/Founder at Outer Places; Founder at Donovan/Green
Michael is the co-founder and CEO of Donovan/Green. He tapped into the "very unique skill set" of a designer extremely early-on in his career and discovered the correlation between design-thinking and entrepreneurialism. Michael also co-founded Outer Places, an online "quasi-science museum" for the International UFO Research Center in New Mexico. In this interview I was all geared up to talk about designing for Pharma and Healthcare and ended up discussing exoplanets and how science and logic cannot properly function at an advanced level without imagination. Because we talk about Michael's 'blast-off' start with Massimo Vignelli working on Sacks and Bloomingdales brands. And we discuss working through production design and project work verses positioning relationships with the C-Suites at companies. We discuss creating the ideal scenario of "designing for designers". And we talk about how design can actually help to save lives by improving service experience in Pharma. We talk about the importance of being a visionary and how this is a fundamental part of being a designer. AND we talk about Leonardo DaVinci's submarine and helicopter drawings, "The Roswell Event", UFO's and extra terrestrials.
